In the 1950’s. I was given ether to go to sleep for a broken arm operation. Can you comment on its possible long term effects on the brain of a child under 10 years old and any recommendations for recovery? Also, please comment on the effects of general anesthesia on the brain as well.I just read the book, The End of Alzheimer’s, and it is the first time I remember seeing it listed as a threat to brain health, though I have thought that it was always a possibility.
Thanks so much!

Our brains and bodies are resilient if we treat them well as much as possible, and there are always ways to optimize function even after anesthesia. We can do this with whole foods nutrition, regular exercise with sweating and heart rate variability, adequate sleep, stress relieving activities, social connection, new learning, supplementation, etc. If we need further healing, oxygen therapy can be very beneficial for healing (HBOT) as well. There are many ways to optimize function and encourage health and healing, so focus on what you can do now to keep your brain and body healthy and strong! – Coach Zoe
